E-Safety Information and Guidance
At Lady Bankes Primary School, the children have many opportunities to learn, discuss and practise internet safety (e-safety). The world around us is becoming more digitalised and the children have access both in school and out of school to a wide range of devices. One of the key objectives we teach the children during their computing lessons is how and why it is important to use the internet safely, responsibly and respectfully. We would encourage parents and carers to continue to reinforce this important message at home to ensure the children use the internet appropriately; in turn keeping them safe.
Here are some helpful tips:
- Talk to your children about their online activity.
- Model good practice.
- Set fair and consistent rules in relation to your child’s internet use at home.
- Be a good digital citizen, remember that anything put online is there forever.
- Observe the age limits on apps, and do not panic if your child encounters something inappropriate but be calm and deal with this. It you don't panic they are more likely to confide in you in the future.
We would encourage you to visit ParentSafe who provide support, guidance and information on internet safety as well as highlighting the importance of parental controls online.
